It was my daughter who pushed me to become an author. At 7 years old, she asked me to help her become a child author, and I didn't know how to help her, so I didn't. At 11 years old, she asked me again, and I still didn't move on it. I think my belief system told me it wasn't possible, and that stopped me from moving ahead.
Truthfully, I always thought of authors as these famous people with a knack for and way with words. I felt like they were at a level too far above me, and I put them on a pedestal that put a lot of distance between us. I guess in my mind, becoming an author didn't seem achievable, and my belief made it true for me.
Then, my belief changed. It was true that they were famous and had a knack for and way with words, but how did they get that way? They started just like you and I, and you know what got them where they are? The fact that they wrote a book and published it! Oh, and then a few people liked it, who shared it with friends who liked it, and so on, and then it got into the hands of very influential people!
